Welcome to the kitchen café

Come hungry.
Leave loved.

Granny Val bakes. Jasmine cooks. Together, they bring NOLA comfort, kitchen jokes, and the kind of food that makes everybody wander back for seconds.

01 / How it started

A few treats became a whole kitchen café.

Granny Val started sending baked treats to friends as gifts. Word got around — and some folks may have lowkey gotten addicted. The requests kept coming, so Jasmine joined her mom in the kitchen.

Cooking together was already one of their favorite things. Opening their NOLA home kitchen to share the baking, the cooking, the jokes, and the eating was the natural next move. Sweet potato pie was the first dish on the table.

She cooks. I get the bowl. It’s a wonderful partnership indeed.
02 / From the kitchen

Made with a little extra.

Sunday-dinner classics, fresh-from-the-oven favorites, and whatever smells too good to leave alone. Tap any dish for the story behind it.

03 / Kitchen wisdom

Good food starts before the recipe.

A few habits from the kitchen café that make the next pot, pan, or plate taste even better.

01

Save that stock.

Chicken today can season red beans tomorrow. Keep the homemade stock and let one meal help the next. Granny Val’s rule of the kitchen: save your chicken stock — it’s better than Better Than.

02

Work with what’s home.

Rice, potatoes, beans, and pasta stay in the rotation — sturdy staples with room for your own flavor.

03

No buttermilk? Make it.

For pancakes, lemon and milk can stand in when the carton isn’t in the fridge. Keep buttermilk on hand: half a lemon + a cup of milk, ten minutes.

Keep a plate ready

The next good thing is already cooking.
